Review–Prilosec Commercial feat. Larry the Cable Guy

It comes with great amusement that I review the currently airing Prilosec commercial featuring Larry the Cable Guy.

Having first paid attention to it on Saturday during football, I noticed a slight variation in Larry’s arms and left hand when he goes through the ring of fire.  This is often referred to as a continuity error.  Not surprisingly, Larry does not do stunts, which involve jetskiing through rings of fire.

Maybe he lifted weights, got married and unmarried all in the span of less than 2 seconds, but probably not.

See if you notice.

Move Over Steve

As a fan of almost all things Steve Jobs, his 2005 Stanford Commencement Address is no exception.  Unless you don’t have the internet, you probably know which one I am talking about.  His message will echo for at least a few generations.  Taking his advice, I have not “settled” personally or professionally.

Recently, I was forwarded a link to Tim Minchin’s comparably inspiring commencement address.  I may be late in posting about this, but I couldn’t let it go unmentioned on my blog.  Tim Minchin’s 2013 talk at University of Western Australia succinctly offers novel life lessons.  While less than idealistic, his overall tone is hopeful, humorous and direct.  It cuts to the core of ideals a number of us cling to and turns them inside out.  He, for example, clarifies that life is meaningless.  Despite a slightly darker tone, his overall message is bright.

I’m not sure if I like Tim’s commencement address better than Steve’s, but I found his advice about not having to have a dream incredibly applicable to someone in the early stages of their career (where I am). Since I watched this speech, I put his philosophy of focusing on what’s right in front of me into practice.  This perspective makes life far more manageable, rewarding and happier and has made a world of difference.

Steve Jobs’ Stanford Address will always resonate with me, but Tim Minchin’s is spot on too.

Without further ado, here is the video of Tim Minchin’s 2013 commencement address at UWA.  Enjoy!
